DeSantis Leads the Nation Yet Again by Appointing New Anti-Vaccine Mandate Surgeon General
On Tuesday, Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida announced the appointment of Dr. Joseph Ladapo as the state’s new surgeon general.
A Harvard Medical School graduate, Ladapo also has a Ph.D. in health policy from Harvard and currently works as a health policy researcher and physician at the University of California-Los Angeles David Geffen School of Medicine, as reported by CBS News.

Ladapo has received harsh criticism from those on the political left for his opposition to vaccine mandates and insistence that, when it comes to the COVID vaccines themselves, “there is nothing special about them compared to any other preventative measures.”
Ladapo’s assessment appears to be founded, based on the rising number of breakthrough cases, as well as the federal government’s insistence that Americans now take additional booster shots to extend the vaccine’s effectiveness.
Upon his appointment, Ladapo announced he will “completely reject fear as a way of making policies.”

“The state should be promoting good health, and vaccination isn’t the only path to that. It’s been treated almost like a religion and it’s senseless,” he said.
“We support measures for good health — vaccinations, losing weight, exercising, eating more fruits and vegetables, everything.”
Tea Party Patriots Action Honorary Chairman Jenny Beth Martin issued a statement praising the governor’s new appointment.
