Pence: Biden Worse Than Expected, Unraveling Trump Policies That Made America Secure and Prosperous
Former Vice President Mike Pence said Monday that President Joe Biden’s administration has unfolded worse than he expected and that the American people must dig in against the president’s $3.5 trillion “socialist bill.”
During the interview, Fox News host Sean Hannity listed several areas of policy successes of the Trump administration, including energy independence, lower taxes, free and fair trade, NATO paying more of their share for defense, peace through strength and a more secure southern border.
Hannity stated he was surprised how quickly Biden has been working to undermine all of these.
“I knew it would be bad. We worked our hearts out in that campaign last year, but I didn’t know it would be this bad,” Pence responded.
“The truth is from the very first day of the Biden administration, they have been working to unravel and undo all of the policies that resulted in a stronger, more secure, more prosperous America,” he added.

The former Indiana governor argued that the $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill, which includes what he described as “the largest tax increase in the history of our country,” is just the latest example of bad policy decisions.
“We have got to dig in, tell the story of what they’re doing,” Pence said. “I truly do believe that the voice of the American people can turn back this massive big government, socialist bill. I am doing my level best to travel the country and share the story.”

He recounted some of the Trump administration’s successes.
“I mean we cut taxes on working families and small businesses and created seven million good paying jobs,” Pence said.
The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 nearly doubled the standard deduction and did double the child tax credit, resulting in millions of lower and middle income Americans having no federal income tax liability at all.
“We built 400 miles of border wall and negotiated with Mexico under the ‘remain in Mexico’ agreement that reduced illegal immigration by 90 percent. Now, we’re in the middle of the worst border crisis in American history,” Pence remarked.
“The crisis that you see today is a result of them unraveling our policies that were working at the border and the messages that they have been sending south of the border.”
He contended, “The American people can see that in our administration we were putting common sense, conservative principles into practice. Our nation, our border was more secure. Our economy more prosperous. Our liberties more secure with 300 judges on our courts and three on the Supreme Court.”
Pence predicted that the Republicans would retake Congress in 2022 and the presidency in 2024.
“We’re going to get it all back because I think the American people see our record,” he said. “They see their record of liberalism and incompetence.”
Pence also addressed his relationship with former President Donald Trump, saying they have remained in contact despite their differences over certifying the Electoral College vote from November’s general election.
“January 6 was a tragic day in the history of our Capitol building,” Pence said. “But thanks to the efforts of the Capitol Hill police, federal officials, the Capitol was secured. We finished our work.
“The president and I sat down a few days later and talked through all of it. I can tell you that we parted amicably at the end of the administration, and we have talked a number of times since we both left office.”
He argued the focus now should be on the future.
“I know the media wants to distract from the Biden administration’s failed agenda by focusing on one day in January,” Pence told Hannity.
“They want to use that one day to try and demean the character and intentions of 74 million Americans who believed we could be strong again and prosperous again and supported our administration in 2016 and 2020.”
