Levin Lays Into Biden's Record on Race: He 'Was Part of Jim Crow'

Fox News host Mark Levin argued on his Sunday program “Life, Liberty & Levin,” that the real problem President Joe Biden has is telling the truth and highlighted the former Delaware senator’s record of working to keep the nation’s schools segregated.

“Joe Biden served in the Senate almost half a century. And everybody who served with him, who’s objective and honest, knows that Joe Biden doesn’t have a principled bone in his body. He’s a chameleon,” Levin said.

The commentator called him a “flat out” liar and a “cheat and a plagiarist,” pointing to Biden being caught during his 1988 presidential run stealing nearly word for word portions of a speech by then British member of Parliament Neil Kinnock and other phrases from Bobby Kennedy without giving credit to either.

“He is absolutely shameless about the things he says and does,” Levin said.

The radio talk show host cited claims Biden made about the COVID vaccine and the Georgia voter integrity law being a revival of Jim Crow as examples of the president lying to the American public.

During a CNN town hall in February, the president went so far as to say, in an apparent gaffe, there was no vaccine when he took office.

“My predecessor, as my mother would say, ‘God love him,’ failed to order enough vaccines, failed to mobilize the effort to administer the shots, failed to set up vaccine centers. That changed the moment we took office,” Biden added.

An average of over 1.4 million Americans were being vaccinated per day the week Biden took office, according to data from The New York Times.

The Trump administration ordered a combined 400 million doses from Pfizer and Moderna (which require two doses per person) and 100 million from Johnson & Johnson (which requires one dose per person).

There are approximately 210 million American adults, so Trump’s team ordered more than enough, especially given there is a significant percentage of the population who will decline to take it.

Levin also pointed to Biden likening Georgia’s new voter integrity law to Jim Crow as another lie.

“Joe Biden now is hooked on this phrase now, Jim Crow. And I got to thinking about this. There’s really nobody better, who’s alive in Washington, D.C., who can talk about Jim Crow than Joe Biden. Why? Because Joe Biden was part of Jim Crow,” Levin said.

“Joe Biden is the most racist president in the Oval Office since Woodrow Wilson,” he added.

Levin offered Biden’s opposition to school integration through busing as evidence of this.

He aired portions of an interview the Delaware senator gave to NRP in 1975.

“I think the concept of busing … that we are going to integrate people so that they all have the same access and they learn to grow up with one another and all the rest, is a rejection of the whole movement of black pride, is a rejection of the entire black awareness concept, where black is beautiful, black culture should be studied; and the cultural awareness of the importance of their own identity, their own individuality,” Biden said.

He further stated that same year in an interview unearthed by The Washington Post, “What it says is, ‘In order for your child with curly black hair, brown eyes, and dark skin to be able to learn anything, he needs to sit next to my blond-haired, blue-eyed son.’ That’s racist!”

New York Magazine’s Eric Levitz contended in a 2019 piece that Biden’s argument really didn’t hold water, but it carried the day in legislation he offered in Congress limiting federal dollars being used to facilitate integration.

“Biden helped his fellow liberals reconcile themselves to the wrong side of history by recasting integrationists as the real racists,” Levitz wrote.

Biden bowed to the opposition his white constituents in Delaware had to busing, he recounted.

“The rationale for integration is not, as Biden suggested, that black kids need to sit next to blue-eyed ones in order to retain information.”

“Rather, it is that, in a racially stratified society, overwhelmingly African-American schools will (almost inevitably) be sites of concentrated poverty, underinvestment, and relatively low social capital (i.e., places where children from low-income families will be unlikely to form connections with children from higher-income ones).

Levin conceded that people could have reasons beyond being racist that they opposed busing such as the distances students had to travel and leaving the schools in their communities.

“But the argument that Joe Biden made there was a typical argument of the racists and the segregationists at the time. He’s not smart enough to come up with his own argument,” Levin said.

The Fox News host also highlighted a speech Biden made from the Senate floor in July 1977 regarding school integration in which he said, “Unless we do something about this … my children are going to grow up in a jungle, the jungle being a racial jungle with tensions having built so high that it is going to explode at some point. We’ve got to make some move on this.”

Levin next took on the notion directly that Georgia’s voting law was the reemergence of Jim Crow.

“Joe Biden, as president of the United States, is using race again,” Levin said. “Republican legislatures are trying to take back the electoral systems that Democrat lawyers, Democrat judges, Democrat governors and Democrat secretaries of state ceased during the course of the last election.”

Republican legislators “do not want all the measures in place, they said were in place due to the virus. They’re trying to reassert their authority under Article II, section 1, clause 2 of the federal Constitution.”

“It has nothing to do with Jim Crow. It has everything to do with a voting system that has integrity for all voters, regardless of race,” Levin said.

He concluded, “In my view, Joe Biden doesn’t give a d*** about this country. Joe Biden cares about Joe Biden and he’s trying to empower the Democrat Party.”
