CDC Secretly Lowers Childhood Speech Standards Amid COVID Mask Criticism

Share

RETRACTION, Feb. 28, 2022: Due to a misunderstanding regarding the changed time frames in which children would be expected to attain certain developmental milestones, The Western Journal stated in this commentary that “the CDC has opted to lower the acceptable speech standards for children” because “[t]hanks to lockdowns, masking and other over-the-top COVID precautions, children are suffering.” The reality is that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention did not lower its standards. Rather, it made a change to its “surveillance strategy,” implemented to “improve the detection of developmental delays by focusing on the 25% of children who lag behind,” according to Health Feedback. Because this misunderstanding was core to the commentary we published, The Western Journal has retracted the commentary in its entirety.
